Morlais is a large, family-friendly 5 bedroom holiday cottage sleeping 11 on the picturesque seafront in the Welsh seaside village of Aberdovey. The name Morlais means “voice of the sea” in Welsh and when you’re lying in your bed at night that’s exactly what you can hear.

Aberdovey, or Aberdyfi in Welsh, is one of the most chic and attractive villages along the shores of Cardigan Bay, Mid Wales, and as Morlais lies in the conservation area of the village, the surroundings are guaranteed to be unspoiled.

Take a step back into the past, while still enjoying all the modern comforts.

Morlais is an elegant Victorian property, which dates back to the 1860s.

The construction is traditional, with high ceilings, spacious accommodation both upstairs and on the ground floor, and with typical Welsh slate on the roof.

Before becoming the spacious and attractive holiday accommodation it is today, Morlais had a previous life as a private home, the village hairdressers, the Co-op food store and a guest house.

Although Aberdovey can in no way be described as busy, Morlais is at the Penhelig end of the village, which is quiet and uncrowded.

The village centre is just a short walk away, and the flat route along the sea front makes it an easy walk for all ages and abilities.

The main beach is just a 5 minute walk from the property, but just across the road from the front door is a smaller stretch of beach which is perfect for an early morning dip, or paddling on a warm summer’s afternoon.

The village boasts a great range of restaurants and bistros, takeaways, an award winning butchers and shops selling everything from local crafts to delicious, hand-crafted ice cream.

Eating out in Aberdovey

Aberdovey’s bars,pubs, restaurants and bistros are all well within walking distance of Morlais.

Seafood fans will love Sea Breeze, an independent bistro serving local specialities like Cardigan Bay lobster and Welsh rib-eye steak.

For traditional pub grub, try the nearby Penhelig Arms, or the Dovey Inn. The Bear of Amsterdam café also offers excellent home cooked food to eat in.

Further afield, the nearby towns and villages have even more eating out and takeaway options, along with independent foodie shops and supermarkets to help you put together a great meal to have back at the house.

The house also offers flexible reception room space, with two large living rooms offering fabulous views over the Dovey estuary.

Both lounge areas have large 40” televisions, with Freeview.

In terms of bedroom accommodation, Morlais’ layout is perfect for families with children, of whatever ages.

The main bedroom offers a large super-king bed, and also a cot, ideal for parents travelling with babies or toddlers.

Two further bedrooms are equipped with king beds.

There is in addition a twin room, and the ideal kids’ room with bunk beds and an additional single.

The property also features two bathrooms – one ground floor shower room and a full family bathroom upstairs.

Full central heating with hot water provided on demand will keep you cosy whatever the weather, and both living spaces have the addition of a living flame gas fire for additional warmth.

We’ve provided everything you’ll need for a family seaside holiday, from the well-appointed kitchen to the basics like bedding and towels.

Parking is often at a premium in Aberdovey as the houses pre-date the motor car but don’t worry – free parking passes are provided for two cars.

The house is fully family-friendly, and there’s a high chair and cot for the comfort of our younger guests.
